I’m hoping the Miner Challenge continues because we may be able to help. We were told of this and I’m thinking you may want to look into registering for donated two-way radios for the project. We work with communication tools, like walkie talkies, for non-profits and regular businesses as well. For the non-profit side, we have a walkie-talkie program that issues free radios to organizations for their use in helping those who help others, like the Miner project. Our site donates Motorola business radios (click if you want to see them) to non-profits through a special grant program. People who work on future projects at your school may want to look into these two-way radios to help keep the program in order and be able to communicate better. You could register here for the radios – two-way radio grant program – if you’d like. Motorola plans to continue offering the radios so they should still be available. Best of luck.

Each year, we have a different group of amazing students who learn about themselves, each other and the community that they’re working to rebuild. Miner Challenge is a great leadership opportunity and I encourage students who haven’t yet participated to get on board early next year…if fills up very quickly! A special thanks to Erik Lorince and Brian Koenig, this year’s student leaders, for the commitment you’ve shown throughout the planning process. Best wishes for a SAFE and FUN experience for ALL!!
