First, of course, is providing funding. All funds come from student efforts, corporate and private sponsorship. Our annual budget exceeds $130,000 so we need alot of help.
In addition, we need professional mentors to serve as resources and guides for the projects themselves. We currently have potential needs for the following specialties: Water resource engineers (water supply and distribution), surveyors, environmental engineers (water supply, waste collection and treatment), geotechnical engineers (seismic foundation design), structural designers, river hydraulogists, water well specialists, etc, are particularly needed.
This requires a continuing commitment to meet with the student teams (video conferencing is the usual method) and, very importantly, a committment to travel with the team for the implementation of the designs.

You can read more about the national Engineers Without Borders organization here: http://www.ewb-usa.org/about-ewb-usa. I’m not aware of any collaboration among the three groups you mentioned, but I have forwarded your note to the student president and advisor for our chapter. I do know that our students have used S&T alumni as resources for their projects, providing guidance and expertise. Faculty and other professionals also typically accompany the students on their trips.
