You might want to get in touch with ICHOM.org which is a non-profit initiative from Harvard, the Boston Consulting Group and Karolinska institute amongst other partners. We implemented their knowledge sharing networking in the healthcare sector based on our SaaS technology Knowledge Plaza.

In industrial contexts, we have rolled out such systems beyond 50.000 active users next to Google Enterprise offerings and replacing legacy systems (based on Lotus Notes/Domino/Quickr or Documentum legacy doc mgt systems)
