I am a bit surprised at the lack of any testing in a situation where the lives of thousands and billions in buildings and stored materials depend on it. Also that a tarpaulin can lead to a misinterpretation of results is startling. If, for example, a car crash test would lead to the assumption that the metal sheets would only have to be half as thick as calculated (17 vs. 31 feet etc.) by engineering best practices, a head engineer’s alarm bells would be ringing but certainly the series would never roll of the line without that contradiction having been resolved!
