Just to clarify, a “freshman” is any enrolled student with 30 or fewer hours of course credit. S&T has 1,489 first-time college students enrolled this semester. While usually at the freshman level, they sometimes come to S&T with more than 30 credit hours and can be a sophomore.

Hi, Robin — As of the fourth week of classes, there are 1,593 freshmen enrolled. You can find the official enrollment grid on the registrar’s website.

Hello, Ms. Hoffman – We are indeed aware of the challenges that enrollment growth has brought. That’s why Chancellor Schrader announced in her 2013 State of the University Address a plan to hire 100 additional faculty by 2020. “With all this growth, there come significant challenges,” the chancellor said in that address. “If Missouri S&T is to retain its reputation for renowned faculty who are also accessible, we must invest in our faculty.”

We hope your son has found appropriate help. Our office of undergraduate studies and Student Success Center both offer assistance for our students.

Just wondering….how many additional advisors have been hired, additional instructors/professors, support staff, etc? While it’s great that Missouri S&T is being recognized as a fantastic option for talented students, it will not continue to be well respected unless the additional students results in additional support. My sophomore son’s experience has been that it has been difficult to get into certain classes because classes are filling too quickly with no other options. He has also experienced difficulty in talking with his advisor because the advisors are overworked and additional students has not meant additional support. S&T, be wise!!! It’s not all about enrollment! High numbers without high quality is not an appropriate goal.
