There is so much knowledge to absorb in technical areas that there never quite is enough time to spend elsewhere, especially for introverts and shy people.
In the old days, we had a Freshman Seminar and a Senior Seminar but today’s internet connected society suggests formalizing an additional course like this for everybody at least as an important elective.
The many Academy groups would no doubt be pleased to assist in these endeavors.
